I never thought that meeting one of the most influential icons in music and pop culture today could be as easy as writing my cell phone number on a piece of paper. As I entered the Virgin Mobile contest at the Monster Ball stop at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Wednesday night (August 11), I thought I had a one in 20,000 chance of meeting Lady Gaga. As it turned out, I was that one. Five minutes into the Monster Ball, I received a text message on my cell phone. “Congratulations, Andy! You won a live phone call from Lady Gaga during the show! We are coming to get you!”
Not long after I received the text message, Lady Gaga was on the other end of the line. One ring, two rings, three. “Hello?” “Gaga, it’s your little monster Andy.” In front of what seemed like a million screaming fans, I was speaking with one of my idols. Chatting like we were new friends, I shared my excitement for her and the performance that was unfolding. Lady GaGa’s next studio album is nearing its release and the Alejandro singer claims it’s her best work yet.
