Lady Gaga introducing herself to the new Apple iTunes Ping Social Network

Yoko Ono was already a hugely respected artist before she met John Lennon, yet the lives of the two are often difficult to separate. Now leading a new version of the Plastic Ono Band, the Japanese artist has arranged two new concerts.

Following on from a collaborative display in Brooklyn earlier this year, the group are set to play two concerts in Los Angeles in memory of John Lennon.

The band will play at the city’s Orpheum Theatre between October 1st and 2nd, with Yoko Ono announcing a series of guest stars. A renowned avant garde performer, the Japanese artist will work with Sonic Youth.

A dream pairing for fans of left field rock, Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore will represent the New York group. Other confirmed guests include punk pioneer Iggy Pop, Nels Cline and Minutemen bass player Mike Watt

In an eclectic, often bizarre, list Yoko Ono has confirmed appearances from actress Carrie Fisher, Harper Simon, RZA and more. Bizarrely, pop iconoclast Lady Gaga is due to appear at the concert.

A feminist icon, Yoko Ono clearly admires the spirit of the American singer. Lady Gaga will sing at one of the concerts, appearing live with the Plastic Ono Band. The current incarnation of the group features Sean Lennon, Yuka Honda and Japanese indie rocker Cornelius.

Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band will focus on material recorded with John Lennon, although newer albums will be represented. The new shows follow on from an event earlier this year, in which the band were joined by the likes of Eric Clapton (who collaborated with John Lennon), Paul Simon, and Scissor Sisters.

Lady gaga will perform October 2nd, at the Orpheum Theater in L.A.

Gaga is not a secret Lennon fan, as she has recently played his white piano.
